Jakarta PDIP Faction Supports Heru to Complete River Normalization

Jakarta PDIP Faction Chairman, Gembong Warsono strongly supports the efforts of the Jakarta Provincial Government in overcoming flooding with one of its instruments carrying out river normalization.

According to him, efforts to deal with flooding are one of three crucial priority issues besides congestion and anticipating a recession ordered by the President, Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo.

"We still remember Mr. Jokowi's mandate to Mr. Heru to immediately complete river normalization, pursue transportation integration, and finally anticipate a recession in Jakarta," he expressed, on the sidelines of Media Gathering entitled "2022 PDI Perjuangan Jakarta Political Work Report" at City Council Building, Wednesday (12/28).

He explained that it was important to normalize the river, thus its capacity increased and water could flow smoothly from upstream to downstream.

"Through this normalization as well, the Occupied Watersheds (DAS) must be returned. So, the function of the river is truly optimal," he explained.

He added that the PDIP faction has consistently encouraged public participation in every policy formulation by the Jakarta Government.

"We are very open to absorbing the aspirations of residents, including during recess. All PDIP faction members are committed to increasing community participation in planning and decision-making in Jakarta by holding various dialogue events and consultations with the community," he added.

As for the information, the meeting was also attended by a Public Policy Observer, Agus Pambagyo and a political observer, Ray Rangkuti as speakers.
